With 38 medals at the Olympic Games and Paralympics, 241 medals at World and European Championships in both Olympic and wheelchair fencing, and 655 German national titles, the club stands for excellence in fencing like almost no other.

The history of the Fechtclub Tauberbischofsheim is closely linked to the name

Emil Beck.

 

Beginning in the 1950s, he laid the foundation for a development that would turn Tauberbischofsheim into one of the most recognized and successful fencing centers in the world. With vision, discipline, and extraordinary passion, he shaped a fencing culture that gained recognition far beyond Germany.

A historic highlight came at the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul, when the Tauberbischofsheim foil fencers Anja Fichtel, Sabine Bau, and Zita Funkenhauser made history and demonstrated the international class of the club in impressive fashion. In the decades that followed, Tauberbischofsheim remained a name of the highest international importance, especially in foil.

 

This tradition is also represented by Benjamin Kleibrink, one of the defining German foil fencers of his generation, who continued the club’s great legacy at the highest level.
